This program can be completed at any accredited university or college, and it requires a minimum of a year of full-time residency. There are some medical schools that will require a year of residency; however, most will not. At your doctor’s urging, you may complete an additional year of residency in conjunction with your residencies. Many dermatology residency programs will allow you to continue on to a fellowship in dermatology, provided that you’ve completed your board certification.
In order to become a dermatologist, you must have a medical degree from an accredited medical school and pass the board certification exam. The passing rate for this exam is close to ninety percent.
